In
his work Janssen creates a gripping perspective in landscapes and town views.
According to Janssen the animals in his paintings are synonymous to live. They
represent live, but on the other side they refer to dreams. They are meant
allegorical and forces spectators to look upwards.

Each reality has its own
contents, an inner life, an emotional life. It is the real world within
me, as I see and experience it, which I represent through my vision and
the use of colours.
Working, making choices and decisions, the
great freedom in composing, using of colours is influenced by listening to my
own voice and using the experience of many years of painting.

The ordinary reality gives
possibilities for an unusual image, through which an alienated effect has been
achieved.

Reality is not existing.
By composing an own vision
is arising, which intensifies reality and at the same time deregulates
it.

Besides by using
oil-paint the paintings show the refractoriness that is characteristic for the
way Carel Janssen wants to express his way of dealing with materials and ideas.

The realistic paintings of
Janssen distinguish them selves by the humorous aspect of the images. Looking at
the paintings for a while it is quite normal seeing cows, zebras and other
animals walking on the beach or in the church. They are put in a place where you
do not expect them to be, but unless the absurdity it seems quite natural after
a while.

I do not want
to imitate, I do not want to create something that is already existing. I want
to make something that only exists in my fantasy, something unique, every
painting again.
